Following the Heritage Group’s 25 year campaign to save the Golf Club land for posterity, we have failed. There were many strong emotions voiced by the Golf Club members, but with each and every member of the club receiving £86,000, sentiment and a look to the future gave way with the accepting vote on Wednesday 12 December 2018. So, what is the role of the Heritage Group in this new normality. I see it as two fold. Firstly to continue to support the efforts of local residents to see that the Merton section of the park is well maintained and park user’s requirements are met. Secondly we will continue to tell the story of this wonderful parkland through this website so the awareness of the park’s importance is maintained and above all track and critique every element of the All England’s desire to develop the golf course land. There is still much work to be done and it won’t be boring!
